Three Ways in. One Destination

How we work

Operational consulting services for UK founder-led businesses ready to stop being the bottleneck.

Every Forj engagement starts with the same question: what is structurally holding this business back? The answer determines which service is right for you. Some founders need the diagnostic truth first. Some need someone in the seat immediately. Some need ongoing structural support to make sure the changes stick. All three services exist because founder dependency shows up differently in different businesses — and the fix has to match the problem.

SERVICE 02

Interim Ops Management: The Layer Between You and the Crisis.

The Forj Interim Ops Manager service places an operational specialist inside your business as the layer between you and the day-to-day. It is designed for founders who do not yet have a dedicated operations role, cannot afford to hire full-time, or need someone in the seat immediately while permanent structure is being built. The interim ops manager takes ownership of coordination, scheduling, systems build, delegation frameworks, and routine decision-making — removing an estimated forty to sixty percent of current founder workload without removing the founder from the work they built the business to do

What does an interim ops manager take on?

Day-to-day coordination and logistics. Routine decision-making within defined frameworks. Systems build and process documentation. Team accountability structures. Supplier and partner management. All of the operational machinery that currently routes through the founder.

What does an interim ops manager not do?

Replace the founder's strategic direction or client relationships. Make decisions about positioning, pricing, or vision. Stay forever. The interim period is a bridge — the goal is to build the permanent operational structure while filling the role, so that when Forj exits, the business continues to run without either of us.

When is the Interim Ops Manager service right for you?

When you do not yet have an operations role and the founder is filling it by default. When you cannot afford a full-time senior hire but need experienced operational capability immediately. When something has to change urgently — growth is creating pressure the current structure cannot absorb.

Engagement tailored to your current scale and primary operational constraints.

SERVICE 03

Ops Consulting: The ongoing retainer

The Forj Ops Consulting retainer provides ongoing strategic operational support alongside an existing board or operations hire. It is designed for founders who have completed the Forj Diagnostics and are in active implementation — or who have an existing team and need an experienced operational eye to keep the structure sound as the business grows. The biggest risk in any structural overhaul is reverting to type. The retainer exists to make sure that does not happen.

What is included in the retainer?

Monthly review sessions — tracking progress against the 90-day plan. Quarterly board meeting facilitation — agreeing actions and accountability. Strategic oversight — sequencing decisions, identifying constraints, and ensuring the business does not rebuild structural problems.

How does the retainer work?

Forj holds the structural rhythm of the business — the regular cadence of review, decision, and accountability that keeps implementation moving. We work alongside the existing team remotely.

Who is the retainer for?

Founders who have completed Diagnostics and want implementation support. Founders with existing ops leads who want strategic oversight. Founders who want accountability to make changes stick.
